Contributing to research in intestinal failure and transplantation
A highly specialized scientific meeting bringing together leading experts to address some of the most complex challenges in gastrointestinal and transplant medicine.
Speaker
Organized by the International Intestinal Rehabilitation & Transplant Association, CIIRTA brings together a group of international clinicians and researchers working in intestinal failure and transplantation.
CIIRTA is designed to foster detailed discussions on complex cases, systemic complications of intestinal failure, mechanisms of transplant rejection, emerging therapeutic strategies, and evolving transplantation paradigms.
I found the discussions on preemptive transplantation especially insightful.
My presentation reported outcomes of patients undergoing multivisceral transplantation for severe multi-organ failure. Long-term follow-up revealed heterogeneous trajectories, ranging from early mortality to sustained recovery.
These findings highlight both the complexity of patient selection and the potential benefits of transplantation in carefully selected cases.
